Celebrating 35 years of research in 2011 – Thank You All
|
|
On the date of Sunday, July 4, 1976, America celebrated her Bicentennial with the 200th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. This time of joyous celebration brought many questions to my mind. Where did my parents come from? Were my grand-parents born right here in America? Did my Great-Grand-Parents arrive in America on a ship from other countries? Many of these questions have been answered. But yet with every answer I receive I have even more questions to ask. Inquiries like, are we descendants of Native Americans? What American Indian tribes? Are my ancestors from England? Ireland? Wales? Scotland? While many more of these questions are slowly being answered, a plethora of questions arise from all of those answers as well. It has truly become a treasure trove of one magnificent quest after another. Finding new leads and learning new facts about my family tree reveal themselves to me in wondrous amazement. All the newly gathered information has giving me copious amounts of knowledge that I would have never known about if Americas’ Bicentennial didn’t happen on that very moment in my life. The story grows with awesome events unfolding before my very own eyes and ears. I have many of the answers now and these answers must all be followed up with facts and documentation. Not all these facts are tangible but I consider them fairly reliable when others have come to the same conclusions as I have. Genealogy and Heraldry never cease to amaze me and I will continue to take this journey as far as I can. All these new wonders have opened my mind to the unlimited and ever-expanding knowledge and keep leading me back to the same ultimate question... WHO AM I?
